The Legend of French Lick Estate

The historic and prestigious Legend of French Lick estate has been acquired by Mike and Debbie Hicks of Bedford. The estate is located in a tranquil setting only five minutes from the West Baden Dome and the French Lick Resort and Casino. Other nearby attractions are an indoor water park, indoor karting, skiing and tubing, winery, Patoka Lake and world-class golf courses. The property includes a boutique hotel which was the home of a local sports celebrity. Throughout the hotel guests will find basketball memorabilia on display and many of the original furnishings. The estate also includes a large solar heated pool with an adjoining pool house and a full kitchen, a lighted tennis court, and a lighted basketball court. The property has been featured in several movies and commercials. The twenty acre estate may be rented in its entirety, or the suites, pool, or gazebo may be rented individually. Six luxury suites, each with newly-remodeled bathrooms, offer amenities such as a refrigerator, free Wi-Fi, Keurig machine, flat screen television and access to the shared great room and kitchen. Three of the suites feature a jetted garden tub. The estate is further enhanced with the addition of a large classic gazebo, plus banquet tables, chairs and additional rental items needed for weddings and other social events. A half-mile nature trail, with a six foot wide all-weather walking path will also be developed on the estate. The trail features a scenic viewing area that is equipped with Bedford Limestone benches overlooking the historic Buffalo Trace. The Buffalo Trace begins at the Falls of the Ohio and continues to the great plains in Illinois and beyond. Descriptive and educational signs are displayed throughout the nature trail naming native plants and trees. Construction on the new additions finished in the fall of 2015. In addition, plans were put into place to convert an existing building to create a six thousand six hundred square foot banquet hall to be named Abbeydell Convention Hall. The event center now serves as a venue for wedding receptions, reunions, trade shows, festivals, business meetings and conventions. Reservations are currently being accepted for all of the estates’s amenities. The General Manager of the estate is Debbie Chipman who has thirty-two years in the hospitality industry. The Legend of French Lick is complimented by the award winning Comforts Suites Hotel located in French Lick, also owned by Mike and Debbie Hicks. Comfort Suites will provide marketing and staff support as well as provide guests rooms for larger events. With the addition of the Legend, the Hicks’ will diversify their guest opportunities for romantic getaways, golf holidays, corporate retreats, weddings and reunions.
